Define autism and describe its core characteristics, including social, communication, sensory, and behavioural differences.
Recognise signs of autism across the lifespan and understand common co-occurring conditions.
Explain the process of autism diagnosis, the challenges involved, and the importance of post-diagnostic support.
Apply communication and environmental strategies to better support autistic individuals.
Identify legal obligations and reasonable adjustments required under the Equality Act 2010 and Accessible Information Standard.
Demonstrate inclusive practice within their role, including person-centred planning, respectful language, and autism-informed care.
